Slavery and the Bible

Slavery has been around since the beginnign of the bible. Throughout both the Old and New Testaments there are multiple passages that speak about the topic of slavery. Although slavery has been talked about for such a long time, slavery is not perceived the same from way back then to now.

Slavery was both condemmed as well condomed at one point and viewed differently from each religion. Specifcily one relgion that has encountered the attention of slavery ample times is Christianity. The pespective of slavery throughout the Chrtistian relgion has evolved and adaptived over a long period of time.

In the Chritsian religion slavery was seen as an act of chairty often. Christians seemed to have a sort of kindness towards slavery, possibly even as a way to reedeem a “sin”. The perspective of slavery varied for each religon as well region and is heavvily impacted from the enviformental influences over nearly eighteen centirues.

In the new testament Christ never mentions or talks about how slavery and making a man or
woman property is a sin. So called slaves in the Bible were mentioned nothing more than hired servants, or workers.

The new testament also talks freely about roman slavery, therefor the slavery that the new testiment talks about is white slavery of the romans. Back when slavery was acceptable, people interpreted the Bible in many different ways and this made people think that slavery was acceptable due to the Bible.
